About Us
Located in the Northcote Shopping Centre, Northart provides a public programme of exhibitions and other visual arts activities characterised by accessibility and innovation.
The spacious and contemporary exhibition galleries host a varied programme of individual and group shows: painting, drawing, photography and sculpture, as well as applied arts such as textiles, fibre arts, ceramics and glass. While the gallery focuses on North Shore City artists, be they internationally, nationally or locally acclaimed, many shows also include work by artists living elsewhere in New Zealand.
Visits to the exhibition galleries and attending "meet the artist" sessions and floor talks are free and all members of the public and visitors to North Shore City are welcomed.
Art Room 6 is adjacent to the exhibition galleries and hosts the popular Art after School programme and occasional school holiday activities as well as functioning as a meeting room for workshops, seminars, meetings, and film screenings.
