Accommodation and room hire

The Michael King Writers' Centre can offer low-cost accommodation to writers who need a place to work or who need to visit Auckland to carry out research. Writers must be engaged in literary project. Applications should be submitted to the manager.

The centre's lounge and administration room can also be used for small meetings or events.

Lounge 
The lounge and kitchen area are suitable for small meetings (approximately 15 people) or funtions (35 standing up). The kitchen is fully equipped. 
The administration room is available for small break-out groups (approx 6 people).
Rental $70 to $200 per day, including GST, depending on the facilities required. 

Bedroom 
The front bedroom has an ensuite bathroom and working space. Other facilities in the house are shared. 
Rental is $165 incl GST per week (discount for members of the NZ Soceity of Authors).
Minimum one week charge.

 

Writer's studio
A detached writer's studio is available for rent when it is not being used by a writer-in-residence. 
Rental is $125 incl GST per week.

Minimum one week charge.

 

Small bedroom 
A small bedroom, with ensuite bathroom, is available for rental when it is not being used by a writer-in-residence. Other facilities in the house are shared.
Rental is $165 incl GST per week.

Minimum one week charge.
